phpAutoindex is a directory listing generator meant as a replacement for the Apache module autoindex.
phpAutoindex is more flexible and configurable than the Apache module. There are many input plugins that can be used to display information such as the size or the SHA1 hash of a file.

A demonstration of phpAutoindex is also available.

   phpAutoindex 1.1.1 was released.

   • Correct an issue that prevented phpAutoindex to display anything useful in PHP 5.3.
   • Update to Smarty 2.6.26
   • Update to phpThumb 1.7.9

   phpAutoindex 1.1 was released.

   • New plugins: hash, items.
   • New icon-view template.
   • Many usability changes.
   • Introduction of linkpath option.
   • Icons plugin improved.

3. Tuesday, October 23rd 2007

   phpAutoindex 1.0 is finally ready for release.
   Highlights in this version are new plugins for SHA1 and MD5 checksums, a better configuration system, Apache-like error messages and many other things.

   • 1.0 has been rewritten from scratch.
   • New plugins: fileatime, sha1, md5
   • Removed filetype plugin.
   • .phpAutoindex configuration support removed (in favour of .htaccess files).
   • Removed support for subfolders.
   • Use of Smarty for output.
   • Inclusion of phpThumb.
   • Enhanced configuration system.
   • All icon themes but the Tango Icon Theme have been removed.
   • New Apache-style error messages.
   • Filesize is now correctly calculated for directories.
   • Simplified HTML output.
   • The usual amount of code enhancements :)
   • And many other things I can't remember...

   phpAutoindex 0.4 is out.

   • Added the ability to log accesses and/or errors.
   • Added a filter.
   • A script to generate a configuration.
   • The mimetype input-extension now uses the finfo PECL-extension.
   • Built-in thumbnail generator.

6. Tuesday, March 7th 2006

   phpAutoindex 0.3 was released.

   • Support for Windows.
   • Users can now apply their own settings.
   • XHTML output has been optimized.
   • Alternative XML output, if the DOMDocument class is not presented.
   • The ability to define aliases.
   • The ability to manipulate the sorting order.

7. Thursday, February 2nd 2006

   phpAutoindex 0.2 has been released.

   • This release has the ability to open sub-folders.
   • Compatibility with PHP 4.
   • Magic Quotes is prevented.
   • The folder check now works as expected.
   • The .htaccess RewriteRules have been improved.
